Why Thumb Sucking Gloves are Better than Mavala

Why Thumb Sucking Gloves are Better than Mavala

Thumb sucking can be an issue for any parent who’s child is aging. If the sucking continues, your child may have dental problems later in life. There are several products out there to help you child stop sucking their thumb, but some products are better than others.

As a mom of a toddler, my child’s thumb and finger sucking has gotten to be a bit a concern as she is approaching the age of 3. So I’ve been looking online for products to help aid me in my crusade to stop her from sucking her thumb.

One of the most popular thumb sucking stopping products is Mavala Stop, which is a nail polish that is tastes bitter if ingested. It is safe if it ingested but it is something you will have to keep applying. Another option is to buy a pair of gloves that have a thumb guard on it. One brand of these gloves are called Glovey Huggey which is fingerless gloves, except for the thumb. That way, thumb sucking can be broken because of the different texture on the thumbs.

I opted to get the thumb guard over the Mavala for several reasons. The gloves wouldn’t need to be replaced like the nail polish would, which means that the gloves are a better investment over time. And I wouldn’t have to worry about my toddler ingesting anything. Even though it states on Mavala ‘s website that the nail polish is non-toxic, it still makes me a little nervous especially when there is an alternative that doesn’t involve chemicals.

I know many parents who are facing the same issues with their toddler and the sucking of their thumbs. I have a feeling that most parents would opt for the thumb guards over the nail polish, especially since the gloves are much greener and better for the Earth than the nail polish is.

For my child, fingerless gloves with guards over the thumbs is a much better option for training her to stop with the sucking of her thumbs. I think any parent facing this problem should carefully consider what product is best for their child.
